Increase awareness and resilience of persuasion techniques;
Train active reading skills to reveal weaknesses in (otherwise good-quality) course literature.
Identifying underlying processes behind research findings;
Considering the process, would this manipulation be (in/counter)effective in another context?).
Critical assessment of prior research when developing their own research question;
Peer feedback on their own arguments and inferences in thesis drafts.
In their future careers, our students will be asked for evidence-based advice and interventions. This requires a critical assessment of how valid and applicable findings and conclusions in scientific articles are.
However, students indicate that they do not know how to critically read and apply scientific literature. For this purpose, we will develop an online training that helps students to actively practice critical reading from introduction to discussion, and to translate findings into follow-up research and interventions, while receiving immediate feedback.
